Store your Christmas décor items better with these tips

It’s fun to style our homes and trees during Christmas, but what happens when the holidays are over? Just a few enjoy setting down and getting back to work. Face it, when you organize your decorations, you protect your investments and can work on styling again without much difficulty.

Here are a few tips to help you store your decorations better this Christmas:

Storing Christmas trees

Your tree’s hinged branches need to be compressed back into some narrow configuration before you fold them up, so start from the top. This will allow it fit completely into your storage bag. It is best to store trees with removable branches with the largest branches at the bottom of the pile to utilize as much space as possible.

A Christmas tree should be stored flat, not on its end, whether in a bag or a box. This way, all materials will stay intact and properly kept.

When storing flocked trees, temperature should not be high as high temperatures can cause the flocking to turn yellow.

Storing artificial wreaths and garlands

Be sure to keep artificial wreaths and garlands in good shape when storing them. As a result, they should be stored in a box or container that will ease pressure or force on their frame. Placing them upright is challenging, while getting them to lie flat may limit your entire space — it’s inappropriate to get anything placed on them.

To protect your wreaths and garlands from the elements, you should store them in a sturdy bag. And thereafter, you hang them on the wall in your storage area. Keeping them hung on the wall will help maintain their shape.

Storage of Christmas lights

Lights are tricky to store. But you can use wraps and reels to keep them in good condition. When lights are stored in small or tight containers, they may become tangled or possibly broken.
